Katie Price is ‘most hated’ woman
Katie Price has topped a poll of the ‘most hated’ women in Britain.
The glamour model ‘beat’ celebrity rival Kerry Katona to the not-so-coveted top spot. The results come after a whirlwind year for Price, who publicly bad-mouthed Peter Andre after a bitter divorce. She also returned to the jungle for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, and was often voted to take part in the Bushtucker trials. After her appearance on the ITV1 reality show, she dumped her boyfriend Alex Reid on TV, clearly not something that impressed the viewing public.
A spokesperson for the company that created the poll said: "Jordan put her foot in it time and again. She tried her best to discredit Peter but he has a loyal female following and is seen as one of the good guys."

Sade soldiers on
Ever since the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in the 1960s, this country’s had a proud tradition of musicians breaking America. Of these though, it seems to me that Sade has always been the least appreciated. Even Leona Lewis gets more kudos, and even she’d admit that was all down to the backing of a certain Mr Cowell and a certain Mr Davis.
Sade had no such help.
I reckon it’s down to British audiences being more fickle than their American counterparts. I can’t remember where I read it now but I recall someone once saying that if you have a top 10 album in America, you’ve got a career for life. The sheer size of the place means you’ll have enough fans to sustain a decent living.
That just isn’t the case here. Also, fashion moves much, much faster in Britain, so if you take too long between albums or have a bit of a flop, it can be game over.
Sade has never had a flop but she’s not exactly been prolific either. Her new album, called Soldier Of Love, released on February 8th, is her first in 10 years, which is probably why there’s not been a great deal in the UK media about it.

Posh offered £25m to design hotel
Victoria Beckham has reportedly been offered a whopping £25 million to help design a brand new luxury hotel.
The multi-tasking Mrs Beckham was offered the job personally by Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, after she met the Royal family last year, states The Mirror. The hotel will be located on the fashion-themed Isla Moda and Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is also said to be involved.
Despite this amazing offer, the busy 35-year-old has said she might not accept it because she doesn’t have the time. However, if she does decide to take the job, Posh has apparently promised to be very hands-on and involved in the design process.
We’re not quite sure where Victoria would find the time; she already has a successful fashion label and three young boys to look after! Do you think she should do it?

Jihadist comedy anyone?
That’s right. The ever-brave Chris Morris is understanding Jihadism in Britain with Four Lions (February). They are humans after all. Have a look at the clip.

Amy Winehouse pleads guilty
Amy Winehouse has pleaded guilty to charges of common assault and disorder at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court.
The Rehab singer has admitted to assaulting a theatre manager at a Christmas pantomime last month in Milton Keynes. Amy lashed out at Richard Pound during a performance of Cinderella on December 19. She was arrested on December 23.
District judge Peter Crabtree told the 26-year-old: "Mr Pound is a person whose job involves interaction with the public. If he’s assaulted he deserves the court’s protection. In this case it’s obvious that alcohol played its part."
Amy has been given a two year conditional discharge, and also has to pay £85 costs. She has also been ordered to pay £100 to Mr Pound in compensation.

Notorious American gangster Al Capone was the leader of a major crime syndicate responsible for racketeering during the 1920s – 1930s. He is considered one of the biggest crime lords of all time and is referenced amongst crime culture to this day. During a game of golf with the also infamous Johnny Patton he once shot himself. Capone was getting into a car when his .45 went off in his right pocket, and caught him in both the legs and groin giving more than a hole in one.

Some of the most popular fronts for crime organisations are actually tanning shops and nail parlours. The most popular "legitimate" businesses which are often a cover up for criminal activity and money laundering are: car dealerships, solariums, nail bars and massage parlours. Not quite what you’d expect from gangsters and mobsters but at least they’ll always look good.
The Mob can sob
Rumour has it that poetry competitions are popular amongst mafia and mob members and are held annually in America, no surprise there. They apparently are used for gangsters to share their emotions and help deal with the violence and crime they have to endure day to day. Poor souls!
Flower power
Charles Dean O’Banion was an Irish-American mobster who was the main rival of Johnny Torrio and Al Capone. They were rivals during the brutal Chicago bootlegging wars of the 1920s. Newspapers of his day made him better known as Dion O’Banion. He was a ruthless gangsters as well as professional singer. Strangely though what he loved in life was floral arrangement, and even owned his own flower shop called O’Banion’s. It was customary in mob culture to send flowers to the funeral of a man you shot, and O’Banion supplied flowers for most of the criminal underworld.
